Trading between players
Up to 24 items and zen from both sides, no fee, with double confirmation and protection against item swapping.
Trading is the direct, face-to-face exchange: both sides put items and zen on the table and, when both confirm, everything moves at once. There's no fee or tax — what leaves one side arrives whole on the other.
How to open#
/trade Nome, or just /trade to ask the nearest player within 8 tiles. The other player accepts the invite.
Requirements:
- same map, within 8 tiles;
- neither of you dead;
- neither of you already trading;
- neither of you with a personal shop open.
How it works#
Each side builds the offer:
- up to 24 items, all from your inventory (equipped items don't count);
- zen, up to what you have.
While the trade is open, the offered items are locked: you can't move them, equip them, sell them, throw them away or use them in a mix.
The double confirmation#
Any change to the offer unconfirms both sides. There's no classic last-second item-swap scam — if the table changed, both need to confirm again.
Both sides need to confirm for the trade to happen.
The protections#
When it's time to close, the server revalidates everything and cancels if:
| Problem | Message |
|---|---|
| An item left or changed | "Trade cancelled: item unavailable." |
| One side is short on zen | "Trade cancelled: not enough zen." |
| Someone would go over the 2 billion cap | "Trade cancelled: zen limit." |
| Someone has no room in their inventory | "Trade cancelled: no space." |
The trade is all or nothing: either it goes through entirely, or nothing leaves its place.
Changing maps cancels the trade automatically.
When to use each channel#
The game has four ways to pass an item or zen on. Each one serves a situation:
| Method | When to use |
|---|---|
| Trading | both online, in the same place, an arranged exchange (item for item, item for zen) |
| Personal shop | you want to sell and don't know who to |
| Global market | you want to buy from anyone, from anywhere |
| the other person is offline — the letter carries attached zen |
Mail is the solution to the classic "I'll pay you when you log in" problem: you send the letter with the zen attached and they receive it when they read it. If they delete the letter without reading it, the zen is credited anyway.
Safety tips#
- Check item by item before confirming. Look at the
+N, the options, the durability and the excellent, not just the name. - Be suspicious of haste. The double confirmation exists precisely so you have time.
- Agree on everything in chat before opening the table. Discussing price with the trade open is the easiest way to close wrong.
- For high values, consider using the global market instead of trading: the price is public and the purchase is atomic, no conversation needed.
- Remember the cap. Your zen and the other side's stop at 2 billion. See zen.
What doesn't exist#
- There's no trading fee.
- There's no escrow, pawn or loan system.
- There's no way to trade with someone offline — for that, use mail.
