Pets and mounts
What each companion actually does — and which ones are only cosmetic.
Acheron World has two families of companions: the guardians, which float by your side, and the mounts, which you ride. Both coexist — you can ride a Fenrir with a Guardian Angel behind you.
Demon, Spirit of Guardian and Panda: only one of the three at a time. Summoning one of them recalls the other one that is active (a chat message tells you). The other guardians still combine normally — for example, Panda with a Guardian Angel or with the Dark Raven.
Demon and Spirit of Guardian fly above your head and follow you — like the Dark Raven, but closer.
One important thing, and different from the MU you know: with two exceptions, this server's pets and mounts are cosmetic. They give no health, defense or damage — a mount only makes you faster (≈ 3.7 tiles/s, against ≈ 3.1 on foot with boots and ≈ 2.5 without — the same with the mount hidden by the button). The exceptions are the Dark Lord's Dark Raven and Dark Horse, which have a complete system, and the Horn of Fenrir, which unlocks a skill.
How to summon#
Click the item in your inventory with the right button. Click again to put it away. Dragging it to slot 8 of the character also works.
The item stays in your inventory and doesn't take up an equipment slot. Guardians have no level: jewels (Bless, Soul…) do not work on them. On mounts, the level (+N) shows as a glow on the model.
Mounts#
- When mounted, your character sits in the saddle with the MU riding pose, for every class: Fenrir, Dark Horse, Uniria and Dinorant.
- The creature's stride follows your real speed, so the planted foot doesn't slide on the ground. In town the Fenrir walks; outside it runs.
- In free flight the mount disappears and you fly with your wing. When you land it comes back and you sit again.
- Hide your mount: the horse-head button next to the flight button (on mobile, next to FLY) hides the creature and you go on foot. It is visual only: whatever the mount gives you still applies. Other players also see you on foot, and the choice is saved on your character. Click again to bring it back.
- Rudolf and Unicorn aren't ridden: as in MU, they fly by your side.
Ground guardians#
The Panda, the Skeleton and the Oak Charms do not float: they walk on the ground with you.
- They follow you right behind and beside you, at your pace. If they fall behind, they speed up to catch you; they do not walk through you.
- If they get too far (about 12 tiles), they reappear beside you.
- While you stand still, they stroll around you: they walk slowly to a spot 2 or 3 steps away (only where they can walk), stop for a few seconds, look around and pick another place. Each pet has its own way. When it stops it stands still — it doesn't walk in place.
- The Panda picks up what drops near you (up to 3 tiles): it walks to the item and takes it. It uses the same pickup filter as the MU Helper and always picks up at least zen and jewels.
- During free flight the ground guardian vanishes and comes back beside you when you land. It picks up nothing while you are in the air.
The list#
| Item | Type | Game effect |
|---|---|---|
| Guardian Angel | guardian | cosmetic |
| Devil Imp | guardian | cosmetic |
| Demon | guardian | cosmetic |
| Spirit of Guardian | guardian | cosmetic |
| Panda | guardian (ground) | picks up zen and jewels |
| Skeleton | guardian | cosmetic |
| Oak Charm / Golden Oak Charm | guardian | cosmetic |
| Horn of Uniria | mount | cosmetic |
| Horn of Dinorant | mount | cosmetic |
| Rudolf | mount | cosmetic |
| Unicorn | mount | cosmetic |
| Horn of Fenrir | mount | unlocks the Plasma Storm skill |
| Dark Horse | mount (Dark Lord) | defense and damage reduction |
| Dark Raven | guardian (Dark Lord) | attacks on its own |
The Horn of Fenrir is the only item in the common list that changes your sheet: mounted on it, you can use Plasma Storm. It drops as a rare prize from the Illusion Temple (5 in 10,000) and can be crafted in the Chaos Machine.
Dark Raven (Dark Lord only)#
The raven is a second attacker. It takes the left hand (the shield slot) and strikes on its own, with its own damage, while you fight.
How it gets strong#
The Raven has its own level, from 1 to 50, and gains a tenth of all the experience you receive. But there's a brake: to level up, the Dark Lord needs enough Command.
Required Command = 185 + (raven level × 15).
| Raven level | Required Command | Total exp |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 215 | 9,600 |
| 5 | 260 | 187,500 |
| 10 | 335 | 2,000,000 |
| 20 | 485 | 24,000,000 |
| 30 | 635 | 108,000,000 |
| 50 | 935 | 750,000,000 |
If you don't have the Command, the raven's experience locks just below the next level. In other words: the Dark Raven is the real reason to invest in Command.
What it does#
- Minimum damage: 180 + (level × 15) + Command ÷ 8
- Maximum damage: 200 + (level × 15) + Command ÷ 4
- Critical: 30% chance, and the raven's critical hits for full maximum damage
- Area attack: 30% of the time it hits the target plus up to 5 monsters within 4 tiles, with 60% of the damage
- The monster's defense counts at half against it
- Range: 7 tiles from you
A scepter with a pet damage bonus increases the raven's damage by a percentage proportional to the scepter's magic power and level.
All kill credit, experience and drops go to you, even when the raven lands the final blow.
The four modes#
| Mode | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Normal | just follows, doesn't attack |
| Random | picks any monster within 5 tiles of you |
| With owner | attacks whoever you're attacking |
| Target | attacks the monster you mark; returns to Normal when it dies |
For farming, Random clears the spot by itself. For bosses, use With owner or Target.
The mode goes back to Normal when you log in, when you die and when you change maps.
The raven doesn't attack in a safe zone.
Dark Horse (Dark Lord only)#
The horse is defensive, and very strong at it:
- Extra defense: (Agility ÷ 20) + (horse level × 2) + 5
- Incoming damage reduction: (30 + horse level) ÷ 2 percent — that is, 15% at level 1 and 40% at level 50
Forty percent of all incoming damage is a huge difference in PvP and in Castle Siege.
The horse also has a level from 1 to 50 and gains a tenth of your experience, but the requirement is your character level, not Command:
Required level = 218 + (horse level × 2). At horse level 50, that means a level 318 character.
It only gains experience while summoned.
Durability and repair for the Dark Lord's pets#
Both wear down with use. Durability goes from 0 to 255, and when it reaches zero the pet breaks and stops working.
- The Raven wears down according to the damage it deals.
- The Horse wears down according to the damage you take.
Repair is expensive and grows with the pet's level: the cost starts at 1 million zen per level for the Raven and 2 million per level for the Horse, adjusted by how much durability is missing. And there's a trap: if you let it reach zero, the cost doubles.
Repair before it breaks. A level 30 Dark Horse that broke costs twice as much as one that was at 20% durability.
Repair is done in the Pet panel (key P), which only appears when you have one of the two.
