Maps and how to travel
The maps of the continent, the cost and level of each trip and the three ways to get around.
The world of Acheron World is the MU Online world map: 80-something maps, from Lorencia to Karutan, the maps from the newer seasons — Acheron, Debenter, Nars and Ferea — plus the closed maps of the events. You don't walk from one continent to another — you travel, and each destination charges level and zen.
The three ways to get around#
- Travel (the "move"). It is the list of official destinations. You pick the name, pay the zen and appear at the arrival point. This is how almost every map change happens.
- Physical portal. Some maps have portals on the ground: stepping on the rectangle teleports you instantly, at no cost. This is how you go down from Dungeon to Dungeon 2, for example.
- Auto-hunt. When you mark a hunting point on another map (or on another floor of the same map), the character travels there paying the zen and meeting the level of that floor, just like the move. In the same area of the map you are already in, it walks there. See MU Helper and auto-hunt.
Level and zen per destination#
Each destination has a minimum level and a fixed price. Some maps have several arrival points — Lost Tower, for example, has seven, one per floor, each one more expensive and higher level.

Master Level maps#
Above 400 the level that counts is the total: 400 + Master Level. At level 400 with Master 60 (total 460) you can already enter Nixie Lake (450). These maps have no two-thirds discount for the three classes below.
The regular monsters on these maps die fast: with a well-geared character, a few seconds in Nixie Lake and about 15 to 20 seconds on the top maps (Red Smoke Icarus, Temple of Arnil, Gray Aida). Each kill gives less EXP than a regular-map monster of the same level, because you kill many more per hour — EXP per hour follows the Master Level curve. Only bosses are long fights.
The discount for the three classes#
Magic Gladiator, Dark Lord and Rage Fighter travel with two thirds of the required level. A Dark Knight needs level 140 for Tarkan; a Magic Gladiator gets in at 93. The only exception is Swamp of Calmness, which charges 400 from everyone.
This discount is the real reason those three classes "run ahead" at the start of the server: they reach high-exp maps much earlier.
Travel rules#
- The dead don't travel. Respawn first — see death and resurrection.
- You can't travel from inside an event. The exit is the event's gate.
- You can't travel into an event. Blood Castle, Devil Square, Chaos Castle and the like are entered only by registering in the events panel.
- No travel in combat. After dealing or taking damage from another player, wait 10 seconds (30 if you are wanted) to use the move, auto-hunt, the VIP "go through the map", "go to your spouse", the Town Portal or to enter an event. The chat shows how long is left.
- The arrival floor's level counts. Lost Tower, Dungeon and the Kanturu ruins have separate floors: the move, auto-hunt, the VIP "go through the map" and "go to your spouse" charge the level and zen of the floor where you will appear. Walking down the stairs still works.
- Zen is charged after the move. If you don't have the money, the server warns you and nothing happens.
- Traveling cancels the hunt that is running.
The map groups#
Early game (level 1 to 60)#
Lorencia, Noria, Elbeland and Devias are the cities and their fields. Here are the shop NPCs, the vault and the Chaos Machine. It is the best place to learn the game and the worst to gain levels after 60.
Mid game (60 to 180)#
Dungeon, Lost Tower (7 floors), Atlans and Tarkan. Here monsters start dropping jewels for real and your equipment's durability becomes a budget problem.
High level (180 to 400)#
Icarus, Aida, Crywolf, Kanturu, Karutan, Raklion, Vulcanus and Valley of Loren. This is where the excellent and ancient drops are, and where the bosses spawn. The maps from the newer seasons belong here too: Acheron, Debenter, Nars and Ferea — see their page.
Cities and utility#
Loren Market and Santa Town are meeting points. Arena and Duel Arena exist for PvP — see free arena.
Closed maps#
Kalima 1 to 7, Blood Castle 1 to 8, Chaos Castle 1 to 7, Devil Square 1 and 2, Illusion Temple 1 to 6, Imperial Guardian 1 to 4, Double Goer, Castle Siege and Team vs Team. All require registration and have their own rules — see the Events section.
Where to hunt at each level#
The practical MU rule applies here: hunt where the monsters are up to about 10 levels above you. Above that you miss too much and gain little; below, the exp plummets. See levels and experience and, for the environment bonus, day, night and weather.
