Buffs, debuffs and potions
What each buff gives, which debuffs monsters apply and how much each potion restores.
A buff is a temporary advantage; a debuff is a disadvantage. Both show up in the buff bar, in the top-left corner, with an icon, a countdown in seconds and a progress bar — debuffs in red.
Almost every buff has its value and duration calculated from your energy. That's why even classes that don't use magic benefit from some energy: a buff cast by someone with high ENE lasts longer and is worth more.
The buffs#
| Skill | What it does | Value | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mana Shield | reduces the damage taken | up to 50% | 60 s or more |
| Defense | cuts half of the damage taken | −50% | 4 s |
| Greater Defense | adds defense | grows with ENE | 60 s |
| Greater Damage | adds physical and magic damage | grows with ENE | 60 s |
| Greater Life | increases max health | up to +100% | 60 s or more |
| Greater Critical Damage | adds critical damage | ENE and CMD | 60 s or more |
| Infinity Arrow | doesn't use arrows | — | 30 minutes |
| Magic Circle | adds minimum magic damage | ENE | 30 minutes |
| Damage Reflect | returns damage to the attacker | up to 50% | 30 s or more |
| Sword Power | more damage and mana, ignores defense, but reduces your max health | up to 100% | 30 s or more |
| Greater Ignore Defense Rate | chance to zero the target's defense | ENE ÷ 100 % | 60 s or more |
| Fitness | adds vitality | grows with ENE | 60 s or more |
| Greater Defense Success Rate | adds defense rate | grows with ENE | 60 s or more |
| Bless | adds strength, agility, vitality and energy | ENE ÷ 100 | 5 minutes |
| Iron Defense | +800 health and +800 defense, immune to debuff | 800 / 800 | 10 s |
| Blood Howling | 10% chance of +200 damage per hit | — | 60 s |
A few details that change the game:
- Mana Shield doesn't consume mana here. It's pure damage reduction, which makes it much better than it looks.
- Defense requires a shield in the left hand and lasts only 4 seconds, but half the damage is half the damage. It's the Dark Knight's emergency skill.
- Sword Power reduces your max health in exchange for the damage. If you're on the edge, it can kill you.
- Iron Defense lasts 10 seconds, but +800 health and +800 defense is the biggest instant turnaround in the game.
- Greater Life, Greater Critical Damage, Fitness and Greater Defense Success Rate affect the whole party in range, not just you.
- Greater Mana, Invisibility and the removal skills only work inside Castle Siege.
Recasting with a worse value doesn't downgrade the buff while the current one still has more than 3 seconds.
In Chaos Castle you can only buff yourself.
The auto-hunt keeps up to 4 buffs recast on its own.
The debuffs#
| Skill | Effect | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Sleep | sleeps until it takes real damage | up to 5 s |
| Lesser Damage | reduces the damage dealt by the target, in an area | 5 s or more |
| Lesser Defense | reduces the target's defense, in an area | 5 s or more |
| Blind | cuts half of the hit rate | 5 s |
| Earth Prison | stuns in an area | 5 s |
| Stern | prevents walking and attacking (Castle Siege only) | 10 s |
Two strikes carry a built-in debuff: Frozen Stab freezes for 2 seconds, and Poison Arrow applies Lesser Damage for 10 seconds.
How to get rid of them#
- Cure removes Sleep, Stern, Lesser Damage and Blind from an ally.
- The Antidote, an inventory item, clears the same effects on you.
- Iron Defense makes you immune to debuffs while it lasts.
- Dying clears everything — buffs and debuffs.
The potions#
All of them restore a percentage of your maximum, not a fixed value. That means the same potion works from level 1 to 400.
Health (key Q)#
| Potion | Restores |
|---|---|
| Apple | 12% |
| Small Healing Potion | 25% |
| Healing Potion | 38% |
| Large Healing Potion | 55% |
| Medium Elite Healing Potion | 55% |
| Elite Healing Potion | 70% |
Mana (key W)#
| Potion | Restores |
|---|---|
| Small Mana Potion | 25% |
| Mana Potion | 38% |
| Large Mana Potion | 55% |
| Elite Mana Potion | 70% |
Shield — SD (key R)#
| Potion | Restores |
|---|---|
| Small SD Potion | 30% |
| Siege Potion | 40% |
| SD Potion | 45% |
| Large SD Potion | 60% |
| Elite SD Potion | 70% |
Stamina — AG (key E)#
Ale restores 45%.
Complex potions#
| Potion | Health | Mana | Stamina |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small Complex Potion | 15% | 15% | 20% |
| Complex Potion | 25% | 25% | 35% |
| Large Complex Potion | 40% | 40% | 55% |
Complex potions restore three resources at once and take up a single slot — they're the best choice if you have little inventory space.
Potion rules#
- Minimum interval of 0.7 seconds between doses. No point hammering the key.
- The key always picks the best potion of that type you have.
- The game doesn't drink if the resource is already full.
- In the auto-hunt, the health potion triggers below 45% by default (adjustable from 10% to 90%); the mana one stays off until you turn it on.
Natural regeneration#
Without drinking anything, per second:
| Resource | Regenerates | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Health | +6% | only after 5 seconds out of combat |
| Mana | +8% | always |
| Stamina (AG) | +12% | always |
| Shield (SD) | +4% | always |
Health doesn't regenerate during a fight. That's the classic MU rule and the reason potions exist. If you can stay out of combat for 5 seconds, you recover everything in less than 20.
Other consumables#
- Town Portal Scroll returns you to town. Doesn't work inside an event.
- Antidote clears debuffs.
