Doppelganger
Hold the clones before three escape, kill the Ice Walker and open the golden chest.
Doppelganger — or Double Goer — is a defense event for your party. Clones of the game's seven characters spawn at the back of the map and march toward the exit. If three escape, you lose. If you hold until the end and defeat the final boss, a golden chest appears.
It's the server's jewels per party event: the rewards are all in jewels and zen, scaled by the group's level.
How to join#
Use a Mirror of Dimensions or a Doppelganger Ticket. The item is consumed only after entry succeeds.
- Minimum level: 10.
- Your party comes along, up to 5 players. To be brought in, the member must be alive, on the same map, within 3 tiles of you and not in another event. Anyone who doesn't make it gets the "left behind" warning.
- The mirror's level chooses the zone. A level 1 to 4 mirror takes you to the corresponding zone; a level 0 mirror rolls among the free zones. In the original MU the zone is always rolled — here the item decides.
There are only 4 zones, one party in each. On the whole server, at most four groups play Doppelganger at the same time.
The phases#
| Phase | Duration | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Wait | 1 minute | you are held at the entrance by an invisible wall |
| Event | 10 minutes | the clones march; you hold them back |
| Cleanup | 4 minutes | open the chests and leave |
The game warns you 30 seconds before each transition.
What happens inside#
A Doppelganger spawns every 5 seconds, at the back of the map, and walks to the exit. Up to 100 can exist at the same time.
They are clones of the seven classes: Doppelganger, Elf, Knight, Wizard, Magic Gladiator, Dark Lord and Summoner.
The clones don't chase anyone. They keep marching toward the exit and, every second, have a one-in-four chance of striking whoever is within reach — the rest of the time, they keep walking. Standing in front of them doesn't hold the line: taking hits from you doesn't make a clone leave the march. The only way to stop an escape is to kill it before the end of the track.
The panel shows each clone's position on the track, from 0 to 22. Reaching 22 is escaping.
Three escapes and the event ends at once, in defeat.
The bosses#
As time passes, bosses join the clones:
| When remaining | Appears |
|---|---|
| 75% of the time | Slaughterer |
| 50% of the time | Furious Slaughterer |
| 25% of the time | Ice Walker |
Killing the Slaughterer or the Furious Slaughterer makes an intermediate chest (silver) appear at the place of death. But there is only one silver chest at a time: if the Slaughterer's is still closed when the Furious falls, the second chest doesn't appear. Open the first one before killing the second boss.
The Ice Walker is what decides the round. And the bosses also count as escapees if they reach the end of the track.
How to win#
Two conditions, both mandatory:
- Fewer than 3 escapees.
- The Ice Walker must not be alive — either you killed it, or it never spawned.
On a victory, the final chest (golden) appears next to one of the players.
The difficulty scales#
The clones get stronger according to the party's highest level — plus Master Level — and how many of you there are. A level 400 character with 150 Master Levels counts as 550; the cap is 600. The multipliers on HP, damage and defense grow together:
| Situation | Clone HP |
|---|---|
| Party of 1, level 1 to 10 | normal |
| Party of 5, level 1 to 10 | ×4.8 |
| Party of 1, level 91 to 100 | ×7.6 |
| Party of 1, level 391 to 400 | ×38 |
| Party of 5, level 591 to 600 | ×172 |
Two takeaways:
- Bringing more people isn't free. A party of 5 faces much tougher clones than a solo player.
- Bringing a high-level character into the party raises the difficulty for everyone, because the scale uses the group's highest level — with their Master Level. Don't bring your level 400 friend to the level 100 Doppelganger.
The rewards#
Any participant can open a chest; those who didn't take part are blocked. The jewels go straight to the Gremory Case of whoever opened it, and the zen drops on the ground around the chest, reserved for whoever opened it and their party.
| Chest | Jewels |
|---|---|
| Intermediate (silver) | 1 Rare jewel (Chaos, Bless or Soul) |
| Final (golden) | 1 Epic jewel (Life, Creation or Gemstone) and a 20% chance of one more Legendary (Guardian or Harmony) |
The chance of each jewel is in Bosses, invasions and events.
Zen#
The zen depends on the group's level range (highest level + Master Level):
| Group level | Silver | Golden |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 100 | 50,000 | 150,000 |
| 101 to 200 | 100,000 | 300,000 |
| 201 to 300 | 150,000 | 450,000 |
| 301 to 400 | 200,000 | 600,000 |
| 401 or higher | 250,000 | 750,000 |
Notice the golden chest: the extra Legendary jewel can be a Jewel of Harmony, a material with almost no other source. See Jewel of Harmony.
Strategy#
- Build the party with similar levels. The group is scaled by the highest level.
- Kill early, don't tank. The clones don't stop to fight: whoever stands in front only takes hits while they walk past. Place your area damage halfway along the track and bring down each wave before it reaches the end.
- Prioritize the bosses. The Slaughterer and the Furious give extra chests, and the Ice Walker decides the victory.
- Open the silver chest before killing the next boss. With a closed silver chest on the map, the second one doesn't appear.
- Keep an eye on the track. The panel shows each clone's position — one at 18 or 20 is urgent.
- Dying removes you from the event. Whoever died doesn't open chests or collect the zen.
- Don't leave the chest for later: the cleanup phase lasts 4 minutes, and then everyone is kicked out.
You exit to Elbeland.
