Gens (Duprian and Vanert)
Two families in permanent war, with nobility ranks, PvP bonuses and a monthly prize in jewel boxes.
The Gens system splits the server into two rival families: Duprian and Vanert. You choose a side, kill people from the other, climb the nobility ranks and earn permanent bonuses to PvP, experience and damage against rivals. At the start of every month, the best take home jewel boxes.
It is the only system in the game where killing another player is the stated goal, with an official ranking and a prize.
Joining#
- Minimum level: 50.
- Cost: free.
- You need to be within 6 tiles of the steward of the family you choose:
| Family | Steward | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Duprian | Gens Duprian Steward | Lorencia (144, 125) |
| Vanert | Gens Vanert Steward | Noria (167, 100) |
Use /gens duprian or /gens vanert, or the ⚜ panel in the MENU. When you join, the whole server is notified.
There is no guild or party lock: members of different families can play together outside the war.
Switching sides#
Leaving costs 1,000,000 zen and you lose all your contribution, going back to the lowest rank. Think carefully before choosing: the right family is the one where your friends are, because you are going to need them.
Contribution#
Killing a player from the rival family gives contribution. The gain is between 1 and 15 points per kill, and the victim loses between 1 and 15 (usually 3).
The adjustment is by level and rank difference:
- Killing someone far below you yields less — from 10 levels of difference the gain starts to drop, and at 50 or more levels above the victim you barely score.
- Killing someone above you yields more.
- Killing someone with a better rank than yours yields a bonus, from +3 to +5 points.
Anti-farm#
Killing the same person twice within 30 seconds does not count. The server keeps your last 20 victims.
Betrayal#
Killing someone from your own family makes you lose up to 15 points of contribution. Watch out for friendly fire in Castle Siege and in invasions.
Where it counts#
On any non-event map. You do not have to go to the battlefield to score — but outside Vulcanus the kill generates PK as usual. See PK and hero system.
The battlefield: Vulcanus#
Vulcanus (the level 300 map) is the official territory of the war. Inside it:
- you only trade damage with the rival family — your own family and neutrals stay out;
- damage between rivals is worth 60%, so fights last longer and you have time to react;
- killing a rival does not generate PK.
Outside Vulcanus damage is full and PK counts. Anyone without a family who enters Vulcanus is warned that they do not take part in the war.
The nobility ranks#
There are 14 ranks. From 14 to 10 you climb on contribution alone:
| Rank | Contribution |
|---|---|
| Private | 0 to 499 |
| Sergeant | 500 to 1,499 |
| Lieutenant | 1,500 to 2,999 |
| Officer | 3,000 to 5,999 |
| Guard Prefect | 6,000 to 9,999 |
From 10,000 contribution on, you enter your family's ranking, and your rank starts depending on your position:
| Rank | Position in the ranking |
|---|---|
| Grand Duke | 1st |
| Duke | 2nd to 5th |
| Marquis | 6th to 10th |
| Count | 11th to 30th |
| Viscount | 31st to 50th |
| Baron | 51st to 100th |
| Knight Commander | 101st to 200th |
| Superior Knight | 201st to 300th |
| Knight | 301st onward |
That is: the top five ranks are disputed. You do not climb on your own — you climb by passing someone.
The rank bonuses#
Here is the real reason to play Gens. Each rank gives permanent bonuses:
| Rank | PvP hit rate | PvP evasion | Defense | Damage against rivals | EXP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Duke | +80 | +80 | +20 | +15% | +6% |
| Duke | +70 | +70 | +17 | +12% | +5% |
| Marquis | +60 | +60 | +15 | +10% | +5% |
| Count | +50 | +50 | +12 | +9% | +4% |
| Viscount | +45 | +45 | +11 | +8% | +4% |
| Baron | +40 | +40 | +10 | +7% | +3% |
| Knight Commander | +35 | +35 | +8 | +6% | +3% |
| Superior Knight | +30 | +30 | +7 | +5% | +2% |
| Knight | +25 | +25 | +6 | +4% | +2% |
| Guard Prefect | +20 | +20 | +5 | +3% | +1% |
| Officer | +15 | +15 | +3 | +2% | +1% |
| Lieutenant | +10 | +10 | +2 | +1% | — |
| Sergeant | +5 | +5 | +1 | — | — |
| Private | — | — | — | — | — |
The +EXP applies anywhere, not only in PvP. A Grand Duke has +6% permanent experience — more than a whole level of VIP, for free.
The +damage against rivals only applies against the enemy family.
The monthly prize#
On days 1 to 7 of each month you can claim the prize with your family's steward. The ranking is frozen at the turn of the month, and everyone with 10,000 or more contribution in the top 300 is eligible.
| Position | Prize |
|---|---|
| 1st | 30× Shining Jewelry Case |
| 2nd to 5th | 20× Shining Jewelry Case |
| 6th to 10th | 20× Elegant Jewelry Case |
| 11th to 30th | 10× Elegant Jewelry Case |
| 31st to 50th | 10× Steel Jewelry Case |
| 51st to 100th | 5× Steel Jewelry Case |
| 101st to 200th | 5× Old Jewelry Case |
| 201st to 300th | 3× Old Jewelry Case |
You need room in your inventory for all the cases at once — empty it before going to collect. The prize can only be claimed once a month.
Thirty Shining Jewelry Cases are a small fortune in jewels. See jewels and invasions and boxes.
