Excellent items

The six green options, what each one does and which ones don't work on wings.

An excellent item is the one with a green name: besides the normal damage or defense, it carries from one to six excellent options, each with its own effect. It's the kind of item that takes your character to another tier.

Excellent cannot be applied: the item is born excellent on drop, or comes out that way from a wing recipe at the Chaos Machine. There is no jewel that turns a common item into excellent.

The six weapon options#

They apply to weapons, staves and wings:

OptionEffect
Speed+7 attack speed
Damage+2% damage
Damage per level+ (your level ÷ 20) damage
Excellent rate+10% excellent hit chance
Life on kill(no effect on this server)
Mana on kill(no effect on this server)

The excellent hit base is 3%. A weapon with the rate option raises that to 13% — one in every eight hits comes out green and with full damage.

The damage per level option is the one that grows the most: at level 400 it gives +20 pure damage, every hit.

The six armor options#

They apply to helm, chest, pants, gloves, boots and shield:

OptionEffect
Zen+30% dropped zen
Defense rate+10% defense rate
Reflection+5% of damage reflected to the attacker
Damage reduction−4% damage taken
Mana+4% max mana
Life+4% max life

The armor options add up between pieces. A set of five pieces with the life option gives +20% HP; with the reduction one, −20% damage taken.

The +30% zen option is the most underrated in the game. Two pieces with it double your zen gain, and zen is what pays for the Chaos Machine and VIP.

Watch out with wings#

On this server wings use the weapon table. That means a wing with the zen or defense rate options gives nothing — they are armor table options, and the wing doesn't read them.

When buying an excellent wing on the market, check which options it has: two of the six are useless on a wing.

How many options an item has#

The amount is rolled on drop. The more options, the rarer and more expensive — each option doubles the item's value (on a wing, it increases 25%).

An item with four or five options is the find of the server.

Where to get one#

  • Monster drop on high-level maps. See monsters and what's worth farming.
  • Level 2 and 3 wings created at the Chaos Machine have 20% chance of being born with an excellent option.
  • Global market, if you have the zen.

Excellent and the other upgrades#

An excellent item can also have Luck, Skill and additional option, and can be refined up to +15. They are independent and add up.

Two restrictions:

  • An excellent item never gets a socket. They are mutually exclusive paths.
  • An excellent item cannot be dropped on the ground — the server blocks it. See dropping items on the ground.

And one advantage: an excellent item fuses into a Higher refining stone with 100% chance at Elpis, versus 50% for a common item. See Jewel of Harmony.
