Drops

How the server rolls what drops: zen piles, jewels by monster level, specials, field excellent, common items, bosses, the daily budget and the bonuses.

When a monster dies the server does, in this order: a zen pile (30% of kills), one item roll, the extra rolls for those with bonuses and, for a major or mid boss, the prize by boss class. Everything Rare or better goes through your account's daily luck budget. The player summary is in Drops and rarity.

The item roll, step by step#

1. Special rolls — each field jewel, each unlocked material and each ItemDrop.txt rule still active rolls on its own. If more than one hits on the same kill, one wins, by weight — and the rarer one weighs more. If any hit, the roll ends here.
2. A monster with ItemRate 0 in Monster.txt (gate, statue, altar) stops here: it drops no excellent and no common item.
3. An (Elite) monster of the master maps also stops here: its item comes only from its own bag — jewels, a pentagram, a Soul weapon and, very rarely, a mastery piece (see Maps from the newer seasons).
4. Field excellent — monster level 25 or higher, outside event maps: 150 in 1,000,000. If it hits, the roll ends.
5. Common item — 2.5% per kill.

Field jewels#

Jewels no longer come from the ItemDrop.txt rules: each one has a base chance (the one at level 80) multiplied by the level factor = monster level ÷ 80, clamped between 0.35 and 1.5. A weak monster gives fewer jewels; from level 120 on the chance stops growing. Below the minimum level the jewel does not drop. Jewel of Harmony does not drop from monsters — it comes from Gemstone, at Elpis.

Unlocked materials#

The Horn of Fenrir materials and Condor Flame had rules pointing to a map with no monsters and never dropped. Now they drop by monster level, on any map:

ItemDrop.txt rules#

The rules left from the original file still apply with each one's map, monster and level range filter. The jewel rules were replaced by the field jewel table, the unlocked materials by the table above, and the specials with no use on the server were disabled in code — they no longer steal the common item's turn.

Field excellent#

If no special roll hit, a monster of level 25 or higher, outside event maps and invasions, has 150 in 1,000,000 to drop an excellent item: 85% with 1 option (Epic) and 15% with 2 options (Legendary). The item comes from the pool of the monster level − 25 — that is why an excellent from a strong monster is usually a lower-level item. +Level, Luck, Skill and the additional option come from the excellent ItemOptionRate table.

On event maps (Kalima included) and on invasion monsters there is no field excellent: the old rule applies there, where 0.3% of common items come out excellent, from the same pool, with 1 or 2 options per ItemOptionRate.

An item enters the pools of levels item level − 4 through item level + 2. Only weapons, shields and armor enter (sections 0 to 11). The table below already shows, for each monster level, the pool its excellent comes from:

Common item#

2.5% per kill, on any monster that drops items. The item is of the map level — the median level of its hunting monsters —, not the monster's: the server rolls one of the classes and then an item that class uses between map level − 15 and + 3 (if the class has nothing there, the range widens to −30 / +10). A map with no hunting spot uses the monster's own level. +Level, Luck, Skill and the additional option come from the common-item ItemOptionRate table.

Zen#

30% of kills drop a zen pile on the ground (event monsters that give no loot, like Blood Castle's, do not). The expected value per kill is 0.01 × level² + 0.6 × level + 2, by monster level; the pile is that value ÷ 0.3, varying from 60% to 140%. The Monster.txt MoneyRate is not used. The zen excellent option (+30% per piece) increases the pile; when picked up, VIP (+5% per level) and guild (+1% per level) apply, and if the guild has a configured tithe, a slice goes straight to its vault. NPC sales, auto-sell and offline progress do not get these bonuses.
